AUDI SAYS "GOODNIGHT MOON" DURING THE SUPER BOWL
Most of us watch the Super Bowl for the commercials as much as for the game, if not more so. This year, Audi's new add titled "Goodnight" will be one of the more memorable ones from the evening. The spot will follow a storyline pretty familiar to us all - the plot of the acclaimed children's book Goodnight Moon, while taking the viewer on a journey through a traditional-style mansion laden with expensive knick-knacks and extravagant, indulgent keepsakes. The spot says goodnight to each item in the lavish home, in effect bidding a fond farewell to the age of "old luxury," defined by gluttony and excess, and features the all-new 2011 Audi A8 flagship sedan along with the slogan, "Luxury has progressed." I look forward to seeing it - it certainly sounds like it'll have quite a bit of impact. I'll post the spot here on the AP blog once it's made its debut with reaction and discussion, so look for that post on Monday! Kaeli Gardner AskPatty.com, Inc. GILLIAN ZINSER IS 90210′S SURF GODDESS
You might know actress Gillian Amalia Zinser and#40;@msgillianzinserand#41; as 90210’s surf goddess Ivy Sullivan. She attended NYU and played a recurring role in the CW drama before being signed as a regular cast member for the third season of the show. Ever the SoCal poster child— Zinser is perpetually shown in cutoffs with her board in tow. So what does this bi-coastal gal do when she isn’t playing a surfer girl on TV? She surfs. And that’s not the only similarity between the actress and her alter ego. “I share a lot of Ivy’s free-spirited attitude, her joie de vivre,” says Zinser. FOAM Magazine sat the actress down to talk about healthy living, perfect days on the water, and her trip to Haiti working with Artists for Peace and Justice. Foam: We hear you’re really into surfing. What do you love most about being out on the water? Gillian Zinser: The humbling effect of being alone in the ocean. I love the peaceful feeling of being away from everything and everyone [Read More]published February 3, 2011 at 7:05pm CST

REVIEW OF UNMATCHED: MARTINA AND CHRIS
Here is an excellent review of Unmatched, an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about the friendship and tennis rivalry between Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert. I don’t know if ESPN will be airing this again, but it is worth checking your local listings if you missed it last week. It was a unique documentary in that it was as much about their relationship off the court as it was about their on-court rivalry. Of course, the two are intertwined so it is difficult to separate them. I loved that the documentary was actually a conversation between the two of them. It was two old friends taking a weekend in a beach house together to talk about old times and#40;on camera, of courseand#41;. They chatted over tea on comfortable couches, in the kitchen, while jogging together, walking on the beach. They hit a few tennis balls. They drove around in a cool Mercedes convertible. All the while sharing memories, sometimes their separate takes on the same event, sometimes observations on themselves and ea [Read More]published September 21, 2010 at 2:42pm CDT

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: STILL FULL OF GUYS
I remember when I counted the writers on SNL for one of the awards listings that there were a good amount of female writers on the show. But the cast is another story. Last season there were 12 cast members. 4 were women. Abby Elliot, Nasim Pedrad, Jenny Slate and Kristin Wiig. We all know that the woman we saw the most was Kristin. and#40;I don’t even remember seeing Nasim on the show at all.and#41; So now as they gear up for the shows 36th season!, it looks like Jenny Slate won’t be returning. There is also one guy — Will Forte — who departed. The cast has added four new members — 3 men and one woman. The woman is Vanessa Bayer. So this year there will be 14 cast members and 4 will be women. At least will will get Amy Poehler for the season premiere. [Read More]published September 8, 2010 at 2:46pm CDT
HOLLYWOOD FEMINIST OF THE DAY: REGINA KING
Regina King Rutina Wesley Regina King kicked a little Emmy butt in a piece on the Huffington Post. First, she talked about the lack of people of color nominated. She cited stats from the NY Daily News the that only 53 people of color were nominated in nearly 1,000 categories. Ouch. People, especially those in the business, don’t usually bring up these issues so she gets major points for taking a stand. Several other things pissed her off especially when they mixed her up with Rutina Wesley an actress from True Blood. When Wesley entered the ceremony they said she was King. I mean they both have a name that starts with the letter r. Seriously. That’s just bad form. These women look nothing alike. THE CREATIVE EMMY WINNERS 2010
Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin The Emmy folks like like the Oscar folks give out their technical and “smaller” awards on a different night from their high profile TV event. The big Emmys are next weekend. Betty White who killed on Hot in Cleveland all season won an Emmy for hosting Saturday Night Live and Ann-Margaret won for guest actress on Law and Order SVU. But most importantly, another glass ceiling was broken by composers Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman who won for title theme music for Nurse Jackie. They are the first women to win on that category. Congrats. [Read More]published August 23, 2010 at 2:31pm CDT
INTERVIEW WITH MARY KAY PLACE EMMY NOMINEE FROM BIG LOVE
Mary Kay Place is nominated for an Emmy for her work as Adaleen Grant on the HBO show Big Love. The ceremony for her category — guest actress in a drama series — takes place this weekend on August 21st. Women and Hollywood: Congrats on the Emmy nomination. I’ve loved your work for so long and I’m flattered that you like my site. Mary Kay Place: It’s just very interesting. There’s a lot of good stuff on there. WandH: What are you working on now? MKP: We’re shooting the 5th season of Big Love. WandH: You’ve been a writer, director and actor. MKP: I wrote before I acted. I was studying acting when I moved from Oklahoma to LA. I didn’t know anybody and I didn’t even know the right acting classes to get into. I started out in production and before that I worked for Tim Conway. I also worked as a typist in music clearance and learned about publishing. I really wanted to learn and when I started with Norman Lear’s company I typed about 4,000 versions of every ep [Read More]published August 19, 2010 at 2:47pm CDT
WHY EVERY PARENT SHOULD WATCH HUGE (WITH THEIR KIDS)
It’s kind of a shame that the brilliant new show Huge from Winnie Holzman and#40;My So Called Lifeand#41; and her daughter Savannah Dooley is airing during the summer when people are busy, outside, not watching TV and many of the targeted audience kids are at actually at sleep away camp. But anyone not watching this show is seriously missing something special. Every time I watch the show I feel my heart fluttering because the writers just get it. They get what it’s like to be a kid and not fit in. They get what it’s like to be an adult who has struggled her whole life to fit in. The show takes place at a weight loss camp. All the kids are overweight. There are really heavy kids and not so heavy kids. The really fat kids hate the thinner kids who spend most of the year being the fat kids and don’t understand why people are saying they are skinny. The hierarchy of everyday life is screwed up and some of the kids have a hard times adjusting. Honestly, this show is as [Read More]published August 17, 2010 at 7:25pm CDT
