Nurse Jackie gets a second season

Edie Falco’s Nurse Jackie had a record breaking premiere for Showtime on Monday night with 1 million people watching the debut and another 350,000 watching the same night rebroadcast of the show.

It was so good that Showtime has already ordered a second season for the show.

In case you missed all the publicity about the show, Edie Falco plays Jackie a competent and jaded nurse with chronic back trouble and a bit of a drug problem.  I loved it.  I was a bit worried that people were going to have problem with the character of Jackie because she is not a so-called “nice” character.  We are much happier having mean guys.  I think Jackie does break a mold here and I for one am psyched to see where this show goes.

The series was created by Liz Brixius, Linda Wallem and Rick Cleveland.

Great supporting case with Eve Best and Haaz Sleiman and Anna Devere Smith.

Welcome to Tv Edie.  Now I’m so going to have to get Showtime.
