In Love with Diane Kruger's Inglourious Basterds Footwear? Yearn No More

For those of you who shielded your eyes during the scalping and shooting scenes in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and instead focused on actresses Melanie Laurent and Diane Kruger, who light up the screen, you probably left the theater with one conclusion: 1940s fashion is absolutely fabulous. After all, the leading ladies spend the entire World War II drama flaunting tailored silhouettes, head-to-toe ensembles, and daringly cut skirts that would send any inner Edith Head lusting. Kruger, a woman so stylish offscreen that her outfits seem to receive more press than her roles, plays Bridget von Hammersmark, a glamour-girl actress with a spy job on the side. Von Hammersmark’s wardrobe is full-on Frau, which Kruger beautifully carries off: thick wool suits cinched with men’s belts, fraying beaded gowns with wisps of mink, and feathered felt hats that match gloves that match slightly clunky shoes. And what about those pivotal pumps that Kruger slips on during her final scene? |
