Go spoil your beautiful self

Us single chicks know the feeling - the one when you see your best friend basking in all her glory because her boyfriend treated her to yet another night out. It’s a pinch of jealousy with a definite desire to achieve the same level of satisfaction.

You’ve probably convinced yourself that you need a man to feel like a princess but the truth is that you don’t. What do you need? You and yourself.

After all of the hours you’ve put in at the office and the time you’ve spent making sure you do well in all of your classes, you deserve to have not a night, but a day out.  Do what you love doing most and by the end of the day, your best friend will be the one cringing with envy.

For starters, grab a group of your single girlfriends to go out with. If you lug the taken ones around, the talk about their infatuation with their boy will put a damper on your day. Make sure the friends you invite aren’t sulking over an ex either; you don’t want to hear about how awful guys are. You want to put your best foot forward and do nothing but rejuvenate.

Hit the Spa

Nothing will ease your anxiety about being single like a deep tissue massage. Not only does it feel great, your chances of having a sexy male masseuse gliding his hands all over your body are pretty good. Top spas prefer to higher stronger men who are able to give a more satisfactory massage. So find one near you and, if you can peel your eyes off of him for a second, relax in peace and harmony.

Get a Mani-Pedi

You’ve been forcing your feet to cooperate with your painful shoes for far too long. Your heels are in desperate need of a pedicurist so you better get over there, fast. Choose a bright color for both your fingers and toes. Studies have shown that bright colors lighten your mood so steer clear of dark colors for they may counteract the entire purpose of your day. By the time you leave the salon, your hands will be soft and ready to hold.

Take a Zumba Class

It’s been proven that exercise actually boosts your energy level. What better way to exercise than attending a zumba class with your girls. It’s high-energy and the instructors will keep you moving no matter how much you’re laughing at your inability to dance. By the time you leave, you’ll have accepted the fact that perhaps you need to work on your dancing skills. The next stop? Salsa dancing. Imagine the men you could be wrapping your arms and legs around there.

Try Out a New ‘Do

“Variety is the spice of life.” I’m sure you’ve heard the quote time and time again but never really thought of how you could bring about this change. Maybe a new hairstyle should be what you’re after. Afraid of what might happen? Don’t worry. InStyle magazine has an application that allows you to try out different styles so you can see what they look like on you before chopping, coloring, etc… Something new in your life may encourage you to go out and show yourself off. If you put yourself out there, you never know what you could find.

Top it off With a Pricey Dinner

Okay, it doesn’t necessarily have to be pricey but splurging on a nice dinner could be just what you need to end the night. You may even want to part from your friends at this point - it can be empowering to have dinner alone. If there’s one near you, check out Il Mulino restaurant. The food is simply to die for but that’s not the best part. The moment you sit at your table, you’re swarmed with delicious Italian men. They pull your chair out, serve you all sorts of free appetizers, and bring you your drink order within minutes. The service is unbeatable and it helps that the entire staff is both hunky and male.

Single chicks deserve to be spoiled too so don’t wait for a man to take you out. Grab some solo friends and go for it yourselves. If you’re willing to invest in a new designer bag, you’ll be willing to invest in a day like this. And don’t forget to milk it for what it’s worth. After all, when your day comes to a close and a man spots you glowing from a distance, you may soon come to realize that that was like last time you’ll be heading out for a single day for a while.

Chelsea Tirrell is a freshman at Hofstra University. She loves splurging on random things every once in a while because it reminds her that she doesn’t necessarily need a man to make her happy.
