Spotlight on Voda Swimwear & Yulia Drummond

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the most, er, curvaceous girl in the world. While I have other womanly qualities, I’m not so well-endowed in the chestular area.

Not only is it tough to rock low-cut shirts, but when it comes to bathing suits, most fall a little flat - pun intended.

A-cups, are you with me? Have you ever stood in a lonely dressing room with what seems like thousands of colorful bikini tops thrown over the door, in search of those ever-elusive perfect (let’s face it) two triangles? Have you ever kept your shirt on at the pool, lacking the confidence necessary to bare your chest?

I have, until I was introduced to Voda Swim, the makers of the revolutionary Envy Push-Up bikini top. The line was dreamed up by top international model Yulia Drummond, who felt uncomfortable at the beach in droopy bathing suits. The padded models she had tried were armed with uncomfortable underwire and fake-looking water-retaining pads and she decided it was time for a change.

The Envy Push-Up, a dream come true for small-breasted women everywhere, recently featured in Seventeen magazine, is made with avant-garde, patent-pending technology. It has molded contouring cups that push the breasts two ways, up and together. (Most push-ups just go up.) The pads don’t retain ridiculous amounts of water, so they look natural. Additionally, the suit is stylish and holds up during any fun summer activity, from swimming to beach volleyball.

ChickSpeak got a chance to sit down with Yulia to discuss the suit, which should be a staple in every Chick’s wardrobe. It really is a dream come true.

ChickSpeak: What is Voda Swim?

Yulia Drummond: Voda Swim is a line of swimwear that I created after years of modeling. We always had to stuff our bras with gels and cups - I was so tired of it! Cleavage is something I’ve always wanted - I think it’s important to every woman.

Voda means water in Russian. I wanted to embed my Russian culture into the line.

CS: What inspired you to start the company?

YD: I came up with the line after I couldn’t find a swimsuit that fit my own body.  I wanted something that all women could wear and feel confident in.

CS: Tell us about the Envy Push-Up. How is it unique?

YD: The style has a high-density special material that absorbs a minimal amount of water. Even after swimming, it still keeps its shape and form and doesn’t sag. It was designed in such a way that it has a two-way push-up that lifts and pushes in, which creates the illusion of fuller breasts.

CS: When did the company begin?

YD: We started selling in June 2009, but started research and development two years ago. The secret to the perfect cleavage wasn’t that obvious at first.

CS: What are your best selling pieces right now?

YD: Our midnight black string bikini has been our best selling one for a while. At first, we didn’t sell a black style, but so many women started asking for one that we had to make it. I think that black is so classic. It can go for anything.

CS: What do you predict for the hottest swimwear trends for summer?

YD: Bright and neon colors are so big right now, like hot pink and yellow. I think they’re back from the 80s - they’re definitely this year’s trend. We’ve been seeing a lot of sales of our lemon pie and princess pink models.

In the end, though, it’s not about trends. No matter how trendy your suit can be, you need to find the perfect one so you feel sexy and confident, otherwise you won’t feel good about yourself.

CS:  If you had to describe Voda in one word, what word would you say?

YD: Confidence. I think women don’t naturally feel good in their bathing suits, but we’ve gotten so many testimonials that they feel so great in our suits. Every woman can finally find one they look good in.

CS: I heard ChickSpeak readers are getting a great discount. How can we redeem?

YD: You can shop off of our website. At checkout, enter the coupon code “chickspeak” for 10% off.
