Oh, Father’s Day. It’s a glorious event that we’re all totally looking forward to, right?

No, no, for me that’s actually completely wrong. I find that shopping for gifts, in general, can be a fierce challenge. But when you add in the Dad factor, it’s another game entirely.

So, what are all the Dads into these days?

Mine likes working on cars, playing golf, and relaxing whilst he watches something like Boston Legal or the History Channel. So based on that, what’s a good gift? A car? A round of golf? A personal meeting with William Shatner? (He wishes).

At ChickSpeak, we did the research for you, a week before Father’s Day, so you have time to run out and buy the best present possible for Dad.

For 2010, here are our Chick Picks for Father’s Day (it’s June 20, just so you know!):

For Dad’s Good Looks

Bath and Body Works Signature Collection for Men

This line consists of body washes with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, fresh lasting deodorizing body sprays, and boldly masculine colognes. My favorite scent is the sophisticated, yet exotic Noir with combination of cardamom and musk. I’m not usually a fan of the musky scents, but the cardamom makes it work. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist

NICKEL Morning After Rescue Gel

For the Dad that has to work late and be up the next day for that early meeting or presentation, this product is a life-saver. It has caffeine and soy proteins that wake your skin up and help in hiding that “I really don’t want to be here” look. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist

Billy Jealousy Liquid Sand and Hydroplane

These products are no less than awesome. Liquid Sand is quite literally liquidized sand and is probably the best exfoliant I’ve ever used. It’s a great shave prep as it vigorously scrubs away the dead skin cells but doesn’t feel like you’re scratching your face off. After you’ve been sanded down, you have to lather up with Hydroplane and feel how the razor glides across your face with ease. I highly suggest these for Dads as well as any man in your life. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist

Bigelow Barber Hair & Body Wash

For the Dad who likes convenience, this product is great. From my experience, most hair/body washes do fine for cleaning your body but they make your hair feel rough. So rather than a body wash for your hair, this product is like a shampoo for your body. My favorite from the line is the warmly herbal and musky scent of Elixir Green. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist

GRANT FOR MEN Anti-Aging Face Cream

Whether or not he’ll admit to it, Dad doesn’t like his wrinkles. So this product by Elizabeth Grant is perfect. I really appreciate how it makes the skin firmer without the feeling of a heavy layer of product and Dad will too. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist

Joop! Cologne for Men

I love the smell of Joop! My daddy wore it daily, and its fragrance seemed to linger in the air. It is very sweet and masculine all in one. This is something that my dad looked forward to every father’s day. -Fatima Meadows “Food for Fitness” Columnist and Contributing Writer

Hot Lather Shaving Cream Dispenser

One of my dad’s favorite gifts I’ve gotten him over the years was a hot lather shaving dispenser.  The man shaves everyday; why not make the experience enjoyable?!  My dad loved that it felt like he was a barber shop every time it came time to shave.  Plus, my brother and I were endlessly amused by the warm shaving cream!  My dad still uses and loves it to this day. -Sarah Friedman, contributing writer

Cremo Cream

Have a dad with a scruffy face who just loves primping his beard? Sure, shaving cream sounds like a boring gift, but this really is an awesome idea. It reduces the risks of nicks and cuts and leaves skin completely smooth. It’s a great idea if you’re running and need to pick something up. -Maxine Frendel, Contributing Writer

Polo Blue by Ralph Lauren

My dad has worn his share of good and bad colognes, but this one has always been my favorite. It’s strong but not overwhelming, as other cologne fragrances can sometimes be. I’m thinking of getting him a gift set that includes the after shave gel, the deodorant stick, the shower gel, and the fragrance. -Katherine J. Chen, Contributing writer and Art & Thought columnist

For Dad’s Closet

College Apparel

Whether it’s my or my brother’s university my Dad is always wearing something with one of our school’s logos on it. He’s definitely a proud Dad, so he always appreciates an ECU or Ole Miss polo to wear when he’s not working! -Katelyn Crouse, College and Greek Life writer

Athletic Apparel

My dad has always stuck out like a sore thumb in Northern New Jersey while donning his Eagles hat or Phillies T-shirt. A Pennsylvania native, he raised my brothers and I to follow in his “Phanatic” footsteps amongst Yankees and Giants fans. Dad’s choice in athletic apparel is only one of the qualities that set him apart from the rest. Let your dad’s team spirit shine! -Molly Hess, College and Relationship writer

Leather Bomber Jacket

I’ve seen the pictures and despite my utter disbelief, it seems that my dad was once cool in his high school days. With this cool leather bomber, I can take him back to his heyday and see his coolness in the flesh. I call that a win-win. -Faithlynn Morris, Contributing Writer

Injini Yoga Toesocks
When I was a little girl, my dad and mom would always go to yoga class on Tuesday nights. I cherished those nights, because it meant that I would get to spend time with my super-cool babysitter. The Injini Yoga Toesocks, available and toe and toe-less styles, are made from an eco-friendly, moisture-wicking fabric that’s recycled from plastic bottles. They’re meant to be worn during yoga and simulate the bare foot, but are safer than walking around shoeless. (Imagine all the germs on that sweaty studio floor!) They’re great for the active or environmentalist dad and have sturdy treads, so he won’t slip!
-Maxine Frendel, Contributing Writer

For Dad’s Entertainment

The Blind Side

This movie is really one that my family and I can watch once a month and never get sick of…which is rare! From Sandra Bullock’s amazing performance to the true Ole Miss Story my dad loves this movie just as much as I do. It doesn’t hurt that my brother is a Ole Miss Rebel either! If you haven’t seen it already be sure to check it out, it’s definitely worth it! -Katelyn Crouse, College and Greek Life writer

The Best of Blue Collar Comedy CD set
My dad loves the comedic styling’s of Jeff Foxworthy and company. This two-disc set keeps him laughing on his commute to and from the office. It’s the perfect addition to any CD collection. -Shannon Kirk, Distractions and Travel Writer

NCIS: Seasons 1-6

What dad doesn’t love a unique, high-paced crime drama? I know mine does. He can’t get enough of Gibbs, Tony, Abby and the rest as this hodge-podge of personalities work together to solve some very interesting crimes. We seriously can sit through hours of reruns. -Shannon Kirk, Distractions and Travel writer

Marvin Gaye Anthology

If there’s one thing my dad loves, its music. The hits of the ’60s were what he grew up with and what I’ve grown to love because of it. What better way to thank him than with an anthology of one of his all-time favorite artists, Marvin Gaye? -Faithlynn Morris, Contributing Writer

For Dad’s Tummy

Monogrammed Grill Tools Set with Storage Case

My dad is the family grill master. That corner of our patio is his domain, so what better way to say I love you (and let’s have some burgers) than by getting him all the tools he’ll need to cook up a storm in style. If you want to get him something even more unique, check out the rest of Williams Sonoma’s grilling collection, and you’ll find things you didn’t even know existed - and that your dad didn’t even know he wanted. -Daniella Gafen, Beauty and Style writer

Sushi Chef Sushi Making Kit

My dad and I both love sushi (we’re the only two in the family who do) and we’ll order out often in order to get our fix. Next time, though, I think we’ll make our own - it’s cheaper, and it’s more fun! How’s that for some father-daughter bonding? -Daniella Gafen, Beauty and Style writer

For Dad’s Busy Job

Dunkin Donuts Gift card

What Dad wouldn’t love this gift? It’s the perfect way to make his mornings easier and remind him whenever he’s picking up his breakfast on the way to work how much you  love him. -Katie Beckmann, Social Media Manager

iPod

We all are so attached to our to iPod’s and why not give Dad the same opportunity? The iPod gives Dad entertainment on the way to and from work and is the perfect outlet for him to relax during his hectic work day. -Katie Beckmann, Social Media Manager

For Dad’s Heart

Lolita Pilsner Glasses

These hand painted 22 oz glasses come in 32 decorative varieties, from “Kiss me, I’m Irish” to the one for my Dad, “19th Hole.” Get it? There are only 18 holes in a golf game, so the 19th is a beer! It’s perfect. If Dad isn’t a big beer drinker, then I suggest taking the route of the hygiene product gift. It’s a sure pleaser if you know what to look for. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist

Personalized Pictures

My dad always enjoyed getting pictures of me in frames that were custom made. He would sit them on his desk at work and show all of his friends. One of his co-workers told me after he passed that he would sit at his desk and just look at the pictures he had of me on his desk and beam with pride. -Fatima Meadows “Food for Fitness” Columnist and Contributing Writer

iPhoto

For my dad, it’s the sentimental gifts that mean a whole lot more than the material ones. Over the years my family has taken some priceless photos on vacations, during big events in our lives, and just the everyday moments that still bring smiles to our faces. On father’s day, I plan on giving my dad a calendar of all our favorite memories.  This gift is functional, yet so special and is easy to make too!  iPhoto offers a program that allows you to pick your favorite photos, design a calendar or photo album for your dad and it will be delivered to your door just in time for the big day. -Sarah Friedman, contributing writer

My Life 8″ Digital Picture Frame

I don’t really get to see a lot of my dad these days. Even during the summertime, I’m always either away at work or locked in my office trying to get a few assignments done. That’s why this Father’s Day I’m giving him a digital picture frame. It’s relatively inexpensive and has many uses. Aside from displaying pictures, the frame also features an on-screen clock, calendar, and plays music and short videos. -Katherine J. Chen, Contributing writer and Art & Thought columnist

For Dad’s Traveling Spirit

John Allan’s 5-Pack Travel Kit

I’m betting that the little hotel products, varying in scent and quality, probably aren’t the traveling Dad’s favorite and they might not even cover all his daily prep needs. This kit with suitably scented 1 oz essentials includes a daily nourishing shampoo, invigorating conditioner, moisturizing body wash, exfoliating facial scrub, and slick conditioning shave cream in a convenient, inexpensive, zip-up travel pouch. -Nolan McKew, GuySpeak columnist
