Author: Eoin Colfer
Pages: 352
Series: Artemis Fowl #4
Date Started: 7/23/10
Date Finished: 7/24/10
Simple Summary: Opal Koboi has returned and Artemis has to get his memories back in order to save the fairy world. DUN DUN DUN!

Rating: ★★★★★

My Review: As much as I joke in my simple summary, this was the first new book in the series I’ve read. I was able to pick it up quite well and enjoy immediately even though I had skipped two books (or at least hadn’t read them again for some time).

A little older reading material with the death of a main character, Colfer still brings humor and life to a slightly more serious book. OK for ten and up, this book will evoke a full range of emotions in the reader. Finished in the better part of a day (plus a few hours), I was on the roller coaster ride Colfer has masterfully with this book.

Audiobook Review: (This is a repeat post from this review, but nonetheless applies) Nathanial Parker does a superb job of voicing this book. The range he pulled off with all the characters is amazing. I can’t applaud how vividly I was able to picture everyone! My one beef is the music they added to announce the beginning and ending of the book. It was so dated and cheesy I cringed when I first hit, “play.” If you can get through the first twenty seconds don’t worry, you’ll be handsomely rewarded with Parker’s fantastic narration!

Extra: I am getting such a kick out of the newest cover art (bottom row)!

Is there a book or series of books where you love the newer art or wish they’d left it the same? Add links of the pictures if you can!
