Here’s another good reason for women to get regular cancer screenings: doctors may be able to catch ovarian cancer in its early stages in postmenopausal women — and treat it. That’s great news for battling cancer that, up until now, was thought to elude today’s screening methods.

Reuters notes that ovarian cancer is one of the most deadly cancers; it killed more than 15,000 women in the U.S. in 2008. That’s partly because many women don’t even know they have it until it has spread. Ovarian cancer is most common in women who have gone through menopause.
