Soundtrack to a Chick’s Life: Great Songs For Every iPod
Personally, I think One Tree Hill’s Peyton Sawyer said it best on Peyton’s Podcast: “Sometimes, things find you when you need them to find you, I believe that. For me, it’s usually song lyrics.” Almost every chick has had a moment in her life when she’s stumbled upon a song that somehow managed to capture her exact feelings in roughly three minutes. I believe music possesses the magical power of completely getting you in a moment when no one else does, creating the perfect soundtrack to your life. Here is a list of some really great tracks every chick should add to her iTunes library. Who knows, maybe the lyrics of one of these songs will find you when you need them: This is the perfect track for your next girl’s night out or getting ready for the party of the year. Who needs a man when you have a killer outfit and your best girlfriends by your side? Plus, it’s the opening song for the iconic Sex & the City, so just hearing it inspires you to put on some sassy heels and hit the town…or it just warms you up for Sex & the City 2, coming out this May. Shy That Way by Tristan Prettyman featuring Jason Mraz For every chick who has caught her crush’s eye from across the room and was transported into her own dream sequence, this one is for you. All you need is a clear starry night, a courtyard, and the hope for something new. Courage Is… by The Strange Familiar We all have those days where life seems to just want to keep us down. This inspirational song will give you a little extra boost to keep going even when you want to give up. Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self by P!nk Don’t you wish you could go back in time and tell your younger self that everything will work out fine, even though everything wasn’t perfect in every situation you faced? Keep tissues on hand and indulge yourself in a good cry with this heart-tugging tune. High School Never Ends by Bowling For Soup Hate that those annoying rules of high school just won’t seem to go away? Commiserate with Bowling For Soup and enjoy a laugh over a few well-placed popular culture references. Whether your relationship just ended or you’re the only one of your friends not dating, this song will remind you that one day love will find you. Until then, you’ll do just fine on your own. Or as Rachel McAdams says, “I’m pretty good on my own.” Does you dream guy bare a great deal of resemblance to One Tree Hill’s Lucas or Gossip Girl’s Dan Humphrey? Turn the volume up and be prepared to swoon over the story of a guy in love with the girl who gave him the best mixtape of his life. Playing With My Heart by Kate Voegele Every chick out there has had at least one instance where a guy has tried to mess with her head. Instead of trashing his car or running up his credit cards, Kate suggests something a little more subtle: Play his game only better. Don’t Confess by Tegan and Sara We all have had secrets we’re not sure we should tell or not. This haunting song is perfect for all those moments when you find yourself standing at a crossroads trying to make up your mind. No matter who you are or where you have been, every chick has her unique story. Celebrate your ever-evolving story with this cool, mellow track.
