Playing in front of 8,527 fans at the Los Angeles Coliseum, a new NCAA Women’s Soccer regular season record, the USC Trojans defeated the UCLA Bruins by a score of 1-0. USC had not beaten UCLA in the regular season since 1998. Still, USC’s win over UCLA in the 2007 NCAA Final Four might overpower all of the Bruins’ wins. However, the Bruins dominate the all-time series with a 19-4-1 record.

The game went scoreless until the 85th minute when Karter Haug received a pass from Morgan Morrow. Haug lofted the ball into the penalty area, where it bounced once and freshman midfielder Autumn Altamirano volleyed it over Sandiford to win the game.

UCLA possessed the ball more than USC did, but were not able to finish off plays, like they have been doing a lot this year. USC fought on (pun intended), and created their own chances. Both teams ended the game with 11 shots, and both goalkeepers, Shelby Church for USC and Chante Sandiford for UCLA, finished the night with 3 saves each.

Next up for the Trojans are two games against the Washington teams. On Oct. 29, they will host Washington State at 3 pm PT on McAlister Field, and on Oct. 30, they will host Washington at 1 pm PT also on McAlister Field. The next two games will be on the road. On Nov. 5, and Nov. 7, they take on Arizona State, and Arizona, respectively, to close out the season.

Up next for the Bruins are also games against the Washington teams.. On Oct. 29, they will take on Washington in a game that will be aired live on Fox Soccer Channel at 8 pm PT. On Oct. 30, they will host Washington State at 1 pm PT. The Bruins will close out the season on the road as well. On Nov. 5, they will take on Arizona at 8 PM MT, and on Nov. 7, they will take on Arizona State at 2 pm MT.
