Who’s in? Who’s out? The NCAA Division I Women’s Tournament field was announced this evening as 64 teams waited to hear where they’ll be playing their first round games starting March 21.

March Madness & Final Four is a phenomenon that grips the national sports psyche from the first week of March through the first week of April. Final Four is the moniker that is given to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments. These tournaments determine the national champions of college basketball. The drama leading up the the final games is intense.

Undefeated Connecticut, looking for another national title, will play their first round at home against #16 University of Vermont.

Other women’s teams earning a #1 seed include Oklahoma, Maryland and Duke. The Sooners are in the Oklahoma City regional, the Terrapins are headed to Raleigh and the Blue Devils will make the cross country trek to Berkeley.

Tennessee also extended its run as the only team to make every NCAA tournament but earned a No. 5—its lowest seed ever, guaranteeing a tough road to a third consecutive title.

The women’s tournament, like the men’s, is staged in a single elimination format, with the final played April 7th in St. Louis. Get ready for the madness!
