On the run with Donna Karan
In just a few days, the streets of New York City will be invaded by race runners and more than 2 million cheering spectators for the 2010 ING New York City Marathon. And thanks to fashion designer, Donna Karan, you can put your best foot forward this weekend without even breaking a sweat. The iconic NY designer lent her style skills to Team Continuum, to create a special shirt for this year’s race. Karan has designed the uniform for the team of 300 runners, one of the largest participating groups this year. Team Continuum is a non-profit organization dedicated to taking immediate care of anyone involved in fighting cancer. They are working together with The Urban Zen Foundation, (founded by Karan) which creates, connects and collaborates to raise awareness and inspire change in the areas of well-being, preserving cultures and empowering children. Team Continuum's race shirt for this year's marathon is meant to commemorate the partnership between these two organizations. But you don’t have to be a marathon runner to support the cause. A 100% organic cotton version of the tee can be purchased for $25.00. Proceeds are dedicated to assisting cancer patients with non-medical needs through Team Continuum and placing Urban Zen integrative therapists in hospitals and patient care centers. To pick up a Donna Karan marathon tee, check here. Or stop by booth #535 at the 2010 ING New York City Marathon Health & Fitness Expo or the Urban Zen store at 705 Greenwich Street in New York.
