Top Female Celebrity Sports Fans
Jack Nicholson, recently rated the No. 1 fan for his rabid following of the LA Lakers by the Bleacher Report, is to Spike Lee and the NY Knicks what Courtney Cox and the Lakers is to Carrie Underwood and the Dallas Cowboys. Or what Condoleezza Rice and the Cleveland Browns is to Anna Wintour’s following of Roger Federer’s tennis. They are dedicated, passionate and you can rely on them to show up and cheer along with the rest of the crowd. With fall upon us, the height of the sports calendar is here; the NFL and college football along with a new basketball season. And guess who’s watching more than ever? Women make up nearly half of Major League Baseball’s audience. Forty million women watch pro football on TV–somewhere near 50% of viewers and the NBA fan base is 40% female. Female participation in sport – both as a participant and a fan – is at an all time high. Most of these women aren’t just jumping on a bandwagon; they’re life-long athletes or fans who love the game. They’d don’t yell and cheer for a guy’s validation or to be “one of the guys” but rather to support their passion. These women genuinely love sports and Forbes recently listed the top female celebrity sports fans. This list is not a case study of pom pom girls or WAGS (wives and girlfriends) but true fans who put their fave teams above all else. Here, 15 top female celebrity sports fans: Dyan Cannon: LA Lakers Glenn Close: NY Mets Courtney Cox: LA Lakers Eliza Dushku: Boston Celtics Jennifer Garner: San Francisco 49ers Katie Holmes: LA Galaxy Ashley Judd: Kentucky Wildcats Penny Marshall: LA Lakers Sarah Jessica Parker : NY Yankees Audrina Partridge: NASCAR Condoleezza Rice: Cleveland Browns Susan Sarandon: NY Rangers Gwen Stefani: Tennis Carrie Underwood: Dallas Cowboys Anna Wintour: Tennis Who else would we add to the list? Alyssa Milano loves baseball, Susan Sarandon is a ping-pong aficiado, Elisha Cuthbert is a Los Angeles Kings fan, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Maria Menounos follow the Boston Celtics, Anna Kournikova can be found courtside at the Miami Heat games and Hilary Swank catches the LA Lakers at the Staples Center when not on location. Jessica Alba hearts the Golden State Warriors. Julia Stiles is a New York Mets fan, Christie Brinkley loves the Boston Red Sox and Cameron Diaz is a well known sports fan seen at both basketball and football games (yes we know she’s been seen at baseball games as well but her love of sports pre-dates A-Rod).
