To celebrate the rescue of abducted captain Richard Phillips, mixologist Glenn Lucci of New York City’s Louis 649 (649 East Ninth Street; 212-673-1190) created today’s cocktail to highlight the difference between Johnny Depp’s marauders of the Caribbean and the Horn of Africa’s scragglier counterparts. Somali Pirates Don’t Wear Eyeliner 2 oz. Buffalo Trace bourbon ½ oz. fresh lime juice ½ oz. simple syrup 3 dashes of Tabasco 1 dash of Angostura bitters Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake well. Strain into a coupe glass.
