Actress Profile: Blair Brown

If you’re a big fan of Fringe like I am you were psyched to see Blair Brown as Nina Sharp the mysterious woman who runs the day to day operations at the multi-national corporation Massive Dynamics.  Nina also has intense bionic type arm that without skin is scary looking.  She creeped me out all season.

I’ve been a fan of Brown’s forever.  She’s done movies (Continental Divide, Strapless), theatre (Copenhagen - for which she won a Tony, The Clean House) and tons of TV.

She’s had one of those careers where she is always working but never became the big, big star.  But she is always great in everything she does.

I remember her best for The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd from 1987-1991, a sitcom/dramedy that was way ahead of its time.

I found some clips on You Tube: (Yes that is David Strathairn with her)

For you trivia folks, she also played a female general who becomes the president in the 1992 TV drama Majority Rule.

Here are some quotes from a recent interview she did with Backstage:

Back Stage: As a mature woman, are you finding fewer opportunities on TV and in film?

Brown: Of course. However, the roles are more interesting. What you lose in quantity, you gain in quality. A lot of the roles you play as a young woman are not interesting. You have to be pleasant, yet feisty, and always likable. In theatre it’s different.

Nothing ‘Fringe’ About Her (Backstage)
